Vadhi Raja Theertha's Durga Sthavam

1.Om sannadha simha  skandhaayaam swarna varnaam manoramam

Poornendhu   vadhanaam   Varnayaami  gunarnavaam

 

I am describing her  who   is sitting  on neck of lion , ready     for a battle,

Who is  of the colour  of the gold  , who is very pretty

Who has    full moon like face and  is the ocean  of good qualities

 

2.Kireeta hara graiveya noopurura angadha kankanai

Rathna kanchyaa rathna chithra kucha  kanchuka   thejasaa

 

3.Viraajamaanaa   ruchiraambaraa kinkini  mandithaa

Rathna  mekhalayaa rathna  vasopari   virajithaa

 

Wearing crown , garland, necklace, anklets, shoulder rings, bangle,

Shining  with  waist Belt  of gems, blouse   decorated   with gems,

Wearing tastey   shining  cloths, who is fully decorated by   small  gems

Wearing  gem studded belt over cloths   fully  covered by gems.

 

4.Veera srungalayaa shobhi charu  padha  saroruhaa

Rathna chithrangulee mudhraa  rathna kundala  manditha

 

She who has  lotus  like feet  shining  due to  valor chain   she wears

Who wears gem studded  rings  of various types and  wearing  gem studded  ear  globes

 

5.Vichithra choodamaninaa rathnodhya thilakena   cha

Anarga nasaa  maninaa  sobhidasya   saroruhaa

 

Wonderful  hair brooch, thilaka  which shines  like gem,

Invaluable  nasal   stud, she shines  with lotus like   face

 

6.Bhujakeerthyaa  rathna chithra  ganda  suthrenaa chankhithaa

Padmakshinee subimboshti padma garmadhibhi  sthuthaa

 

With glorious   hands   wearing a mangalya   suthra decorated  by  gems

Having  lotus like eyes, Bimba fruit  like red lips , who was prayed  to by  Brahma  and others

 

7.Kabaree bhara  vinyastha , pushpa   sthabaka  vistharaa

Karna neelothphala ruchaa lasadh brumandala thwishaa

 

She who has   extremely heavy  hair  decorated  broadly  by flowers

Who shines  by blue lotus flowers   decorating her ears  and with pretty eye brows

 

8.Kunthalaanamcha santhathyaa , shobhamanaa  shubha pradhaa

Thanu Madhya visaalora , sthala prathu   nithambino

 

Who always  shines  by her  long hair, who grants  good to all,

Who has  a very thin middle , huge breasts and mountain like buttocks

 

9.Charu deerga  bujaa kambu greevaa jangaa  yuga prabhaa

Asee  charma  gadha soola dhanur bana angusaadheenaa

 

She has   long pretty hands, conch like  neck,  two shining  shanks,

She is armed  with sword   , mace  , trident  , bow , arrow    and  goad

 

 

10.Varaa abhyaabhyaam chakrena sankhena cha lasad karaa

Damshtragra bheeshanaa syothya dungaradritha   dhanavaa

 

Who has  a shining hand showing sign of protection and blessing and holding Chakra  and the conch

Who  has ferocious with protruding teeth and appears  terrible to the   asuras.

 

11.Bhayankari suraareenaam  , suraanaam   abhayankari

Mukunda  kinkari , Vishnu  bhakthaanam mouktha   sankari

 

She is fearsome to enemies of devas and one who protects the devas

She  has Mukunda  as her  assistant and the Parvathi  who grants salvation to devotees of Vishnu

 

12Surasthree kinkaribhischa avruthaa kshemankari cha na

AAdhou mukhodh geerna naanaa aamnaaya sarkari  punaa

 

She is one surrounded  by her deva maiden servants, she is also one who does good to us

In the beginning she came from words and became   a protector to us

 

13.Nisarga mukthaa bakathaanaam, trivarga  phala  dhayini

Nishmbha   shumbha  samaharthree, mahishasura  mardhani

 

Without condition she grants salvation to her  devotees and  grants them dharma wealth and love

She is  the killer  of Shumbha  and Nishumbha, and killer  of Mahishasura

 

14.Thamasaanaam  thama praapthye mithyaa jnana  pravarthika

Thamo abhimaananee paayaadh durgee swargapa vargadhaa

 

For  dark knowledge  to reach  the evil people, she   who gives  them  ignorance

She who is the  pride  of evil people , is Durga who grants  heaven   and salvation

 

15.Yimam   Durgasthavam punyam, vadhirajaya theeritham

Padan vijayathe sathrooonaam  , durgaani chothareth

 

The one who  reads this blessed prayer on Durga  composed  by Vadhiraja

Will  win over his enemies and would   cross  all dangers

 

Ithi Vadhi Raja  punya charana virachitha Durga sthavam  sampoornam

 

Thus ends  the “Durga Sthava” written  by  Vadhiraja  the holy saint
