கலிவிருத்தம்

வேத மாகமம் வேறும் பலப்பல 
வோதி நாளு முளந்தடு மாறன்மின் 
சோதி காணிருள் போலத் தொலைந்திடுந் 
தீதெ லாமுஞ் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 1

Vedham agamam verum  pala pala

Oathi  naalum  ulam   thadumaaranmin

Jothi  kaan  irul pola   tholainthidum

Theethellamum   Shiva  , Shiva   yenmine

 

Chant  Vedas  and agamas   and many

Many  such things, do not get daily  upset

All the bad   things  would  go away like

Darkness  seeing light, please  say  Shiva, shiva

 

புல்ல ராயினும் போதக ராயினுஞ் 
சொல்லவ ராயிற் சுருதி விதித்திடு 
நல்ல வாகு நவையென் றகற்றிய 
செல்ல றீருஞ் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 2

 

Pullaraayinum  bodhakar  aayinum

Chollavaraayir    sruthi   vidhithidu

Nalla vaku  navai   yendru   agathiya

Chella areerum    Shiva  shiva  yenmine

 

Whether  you  are a useless person  or a teacher

If you   are expert in chanting , as  per Vedas

To remove sinful things and to tell  good things

And to remove  sins by five organs  , Chant  Shiva, Shiva

 

நாக்கி னானு நயனங்க ளானுமிவ் 
வாக்கை யானு மருஞ்செவி யானுநம் 
மூக்கி னானு முயங்கிய தீவினை 
தீர்க்க லாகுஞ் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 3

 

Nakkinaanum  nayanangalaa  yinum

Vaakaayaanum marumchevi yanu nam

Mookinaanum  muyangiya theevinai

THeerkkalaakum   Shiva  Shiva  yen mine

 

Whether  it is by toungue  or due  to  eyes

Or  by   words or by hearing   by the ear

Or   by  the nose , the  sin which was done  without  knowing

To get  rid  of it , Please  chant  Shiva Shiva

 

சாந்தி ராயண மாதி தவத்தினான் 
வாய்ந்த மேனி வருத்த விறந்திடாப் 
போந்த பாகத மேனும் பொருக்கெனத் 
தீந்து போகுஞ் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 4

 

Chanthirayana  maathi  thvithinaan

Vaayntha meni  varutha viranthidaa

Pontha pakathamennum  porukkena

THeenthu pokum  , Shiva  Shiva yenmine

 

In spite  of  making  the body suffer and get pained

By doing   penances  like  Chandrayana(with moons phase  reduce food)

If   some  sins  never  get  destroyed  and follow you,

To get  them destroyed   chant  Shiva  , Shiva

 

வில்லி தென்ன விளங்குந் திருநுதல் 
வல்லி பங்கன் மலரடி காணிய 
கல்வி நல்குங் கருத்து மகிழவுறுஞ் 
செல்வ நல்குஞ் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 5

 

Villithenna  vilangum thiru nuthal

Valli  pangan malaradi  kaaniya

Kalvi  nalgum karuthu    magizhvurunch

Chelva  nalgum  , Shiva  Shiva yenmine

 

To see the  bow  like  bent  of forehead

And  to see   the flower  like feet  Of Husband  of Parvathi

To learn all the  four type  of knowledge  and be happy

And  to earn wealth, chant Shiva, Shiva

 

தீய நாளொடு கோளின் செயிர்தவு 
நோய கன்றிடு நூறெனக் கூறிய 
வாயுள் பல்கு மறம்வளர்ந் தோங்குறுந் 
தீய தீருஞ் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 6

 

Theeya  naalodu, kolin  cheyirthavu

Noye kandridu noorena  kooriya

Vaayul  palku  maram  valrnthu  ongurum

Theeya  theerum  Shiva  Shiva   yenmine

 

Along with  bad   stars  and acts  of planets

The  sickness also would get  cured and

To increase  the life  span, to increase  Dharma

And to destroy   all that  is bad , Chant  Shiva  , Shiva

 

வருந்தி யாற்றி வளர்த்த கதிர்த்தலை 
பொருந்து வான்பயிர் போற்றுநர் போலவே 
விரிந்த வேணியில் வெண்மதி சூடிபின் 
றிரிந்து காப்பன் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 7

 

Varunthi yaathu valartha  kadhir thalai

Porunthu vaan payit pothunar  poalave

Virintha  veniyil  Ven mathi choodi pin

Drinthu  kaappan , Shiva , Shiva  Yenmine

 

Just  like  protecting the   the  flower  of the crop’

Which have  grown with   great effort  by  poor  people

For lord Shiva  who wears  the  moon on his  hair

To protect  us , Chant   Shiva  , Shiva

 

முந்தை யோர்சொன் மொழிந்து சிவனென 
நிந்தை தானச் சிவனை நிகழ்த்தினும் 
வந்த தீவினை மாற்றுவ னாதலாற் 
சிந்தை யோடு சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 8

 

Munthayor  chon mozhinthu  Shivanena

Ninthau  thana   shivanai  nigazhthinum

Vantha  theevinai  maathruvan, aathalaar

Chinthayodu Shiva   Shiva  yen mine

 

Even if earlier  you chant   the  name of Shiva

And  later  tell  bad  names  of Lord Shiva

The  sin due to that  act  would be changed  ,

If we chant with mental  concentration,  Shiva Shiva

 

நீச ரேனும்வா னீசர் நிகழ்த்தில்வா 
னீச ரேனுஞ் சிவசிவ வென்கிலார் 
நீச ரேயென் றியம்புறு நின்றுப 
தேச நூல்கள் சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 9

 

Neecharenum   Vaan eesar, nigazthil

Vaanessar yenum   Shiva shiva yenkilaar

Neechare yendru iyamburu  nindru

Upadhesa   noolkal  , Shiva Shiva  yenmine

 

Whether  they are low bad ones or   the  god,

Of Gods, if   they   do not chant Shiva , Shiva

Then books of teaching  tell  that,

They  are low onces  , Please  chant  Shiva, Shiva

 

எண்ணி நெஞ்சிற் சிவசிவ வென்பவர் 
வண்ண மென்பதங் கிட்டி வணங்கவு 
முண்ண டுங்குவ னொண்டிறற் கூற்றுவன் 
றிண்ண மீது சிவசிவ வென்மினே. 10

 

Yenni  nenjir  Shiva  Shiva  yenbavar

Vannn  padam kitti , vangavum

Munnandanguv nondirar  kootruvan

Rinna   meetha  shiva  shiva yen mine

 

Before those  who search  and go near  those  who meditate

The  name of Shiva   and  salute  their feet

Yama  the  God  of death  would stand and shiver

If this is true  , Chant  Shiva  and Shiva

 

 

அறுசீர்க் கழிநெடிலடி ஆசி£யவிருத்தம்

Aru cheer  kazhi nediladi AAsiya  Virutham

 

இழிவுறுபுன் கருமநெறி யினனெனினுங் கொலைவேட னெனினும் பொல்லாப் 
பழிமருவு பதகனெனி னும்பதித னெனினுமிகப் 
பகரா நின்ற   மொழிகளுண்முற் றவசனாய்ச் சிவசிவவென் றொருமுறைதான் 
மொழியி லன்னோன்  செழியநறு மலரடியின் றுகளன்றோ வெங்கள்குல   தெய்வ மென்ப. 11

 

Even if he has bad fame , those   who are  not within their control, Even they are hunters who kill , those   with extremely  bad fame, Even if they are  criminals , if they tell once that  Lord Shiva  is the  deity of their clan and chant Shiva, Shiva once, Is not  our kula deiva the  pretty sweet smelling feet
