1. Shuklam Baradaram Vishnum, Sasi Varnam Chatur Bhujam,

Prasanna Vadanan Dyayet, Sarva Vignopa Sandaye     

                           

 Dressed in white you are,Oh, all pervading one, And glowing with the colour of moon.

With four arms, you are, the all knowing one I meditate on your ever-smiling face,

 And pray, “ Remove all obstacles on my way”.

 

2.Gurur Brahma , Gurur Vishnu, Gurur  devo  Maheswara

Guru  SAkshath   param Brahma thasmai  Gurave  nama

 

Guru is Brahma, Vishnu and the great Maheswara,
Guru is the real Brahman and so I salute the Guru.

3. Sadashiva  samarambham Sankaracharya  Madhyamaam

Asmad acharya  paryantham Vandhe  Guru Paramparam

 

 Starting   from  Lord Sadashiva In the middle  Adhi sankaracharya

Till we reach  our own Guru  I salute the clan of Guru

 

4. Ajnana thimiranthasya jnana ajnana  salaakaya,

Chakshur  unmeelitham yena  thasmai   sri gurave nama.

 

He who opens the one blinded  by ignorance   and gives him wisdom,

And  opens his eyes is the Guru and my salutations to him.

 

5, Dhyana moolam  guror  moorthi poojaa moolam   guro padham,

Manthra moolam guror  vakhyam, thasmai   sri   Gurave  nama

 

The root of meditation is Guru, The root of worship is Guru’s feet,

The root of Manthra are  Guru’s words , Saltations to that Guru

 

6, Jnana sakthi samaarooda thathwa  maalaa  vibhooshane,

Bukthi mukthi  pradathre cha  thasmai   sri Gurave  nama

 

He who travels  in power of wisdom and who is decorated by garland  of Philosophy,

Who grants   us prosperity  as well as salvation, Salutations to that guru

 

7.Yad  anugraha mathhrena soka mohau  vinasyatha

Thasmai  sri  desikendraya , namosthu  paramathmane

 

Jusst by his blessings sorrow  and passion  disappears

To him who is  king of gurus, I salute  oh Great  god

 

8.Aham yeva jagath sarvam. Aham yeva param padham

Yethad  jnanam  yatho  bhooyath, tham gurum  pranamamham

 

I am there  in the whole  world, I  am the divine  state

If this knowledge  is taught  , I salute   that  Guru

 

9. Sakala samaya  srushti, sachidananda   drushti,

Nirvasathu mayi nithym  sri guror   divya   srushti.

 

The creator of all time. Having sight  of divine joy,

May such a  divine look of Guru  be always with me.

 

10.Sath  guru nadha  Guru mandale  nama

 

Salutation to the great Guru  among all gurus

 

11.Sri guru  parama guru parameshti gurubhyo  nama

 

Salutations  to Guru , the divine  Guru  and the superior Guru

 

12.Swakula  gurudeva rishi  gothrathmane nama

 

Salutations  to guru of ur clan and the soul of saint of  our gothra

 

13.Om  Achyutha Anantha  Govinda Kesavaya nama

 

Om  salutations  to Achyutha  , Anantha , Govinda  and kesava

 

14.Om jnananatha  mayam devam, nirmala  spatikakruthim

Aadharam  sarva  vidhyaanaam , Hayagreevam  upasmahe

 

Om the god pervaded with  endless  knowledge , having form of pure crysal

Who is the   basis of  all knowledge, I salute  Lord  Hayagreeva
